The genesis of the idea for Cobbled Folk Revival goes back at least a decade, and probably more. In about 2013 we wrote down a list of things we make, crafts we practice, and skills we would like to pass on to others, and began trying to figure out a way to "cobble" all of this into something cohesive.
Later, we began hosting some classes, Annie created her YouTube channel with a focus on her "Sing Tradition" project of preserving old songs by teaching them to others, and we even took our show on the road, playing music and teaching outdoor skills to whoever would host us!
Since the early days, the important thing has been passing on skills not building a business. Martin has never charged a set fee for classes for example, lest finances be a barrier to any potential student. We think that YouTube, school and library visits, and more of the "Cobbled Road Show" are a the best way to achieve our mission while staying true to our values. If you would like to see us come to your area please be in touch!
